Federal Café

On-trend Federal Café attracts the hipster set

An Australian-themed hipster café in Parliament street, that’s not too hampered by its coolness.

Okay – you may have to fight your way past the computer-wielding coffee drinkers who treat the joint like a co-working space, but it is worth it. The brunches are excellent, and lunch is not shabby either. Plus coffee and cakes. What’s not to like?

Kangaroo burger at Federal Café

The burgers are excellent, and while a kangaroo burger sounds completely out of place here, it is one of the best burgers in Barcelona.

Apparently there are queues on the weekends. (There’s another outlet in the Gothic quarter.)

Sucursal Aceitera

With frontages onto two streets, Scursal offers cosy indoors dining and a few al fresco tables

Sucursal is another welcome addition to the burgeoning bar scene in Parlament, even if the address is Comte Borrell (it’s on the corner).

Sucursal offers the expected tapas standards done well, alongside some more imaginative fare, and a focus on organic produce. With a good selection of wines by the glass and lovely big windows that are opened up on nice days, it is one of Parlament’s better tapas bets.

Scursal does the expected tapas favorites, and much more besides

A recent extension has seen a more formal restaurant section added (the original bar remains unchanged), and I like that too. The décor is lovely, and the service very good too.

Keep an eye out for the extraordinarily good-value set lunches – three choices each for starter, main and dessert with a drink all for less than €20? Win.
